What is Bleed?

By:      Category: printing

So you’ve spent hours creating your design masterpiece and finally sent it off to print. Great, but wait a minute, it’s come back from the printers and you’ve been asked to supply it with some bleed.
Don’t worry, although this sounds scary there’s not actually any blood involved.

What is Bleed?

Bleed is the extra area around a printed leaflet that gets trimmed off in the final finishing stages of production. When your job is printed, it’s printed on a large sheet, with lots of other jobs, and then trimmed to size afterwards. This helps to reduce costs and increases efficiency.
